October's Customer Spotlight: Heather Rogers - Ramona, CA.

How were you first introduced to Narrow-Gauge Designs (NGD)? What initially attracted you to the jewelry? Was it the design? Materials? Story?
"I was first introduced to Narrow-Gauge Designs when I met Esla Andrew and found out that she created the lovely pieces of jewelry she was wearing. I have little wrists and most bracelets are giant on me. I love the minimalist designs and that Esla custom makes them. She has created several pieces and has sized them to fit just right."
Do you have a favorite piece of NGD jewelry? Was it from a collection or was it a custom design?
"Oh gosh, I don't know that I can pick just one. Let's see...the "Alpine Loop" stackable ring set is a must, my turquoise minimalist wrap is one I am always wearing and smiling about, my opal ombrè minimalist bracelet is a fav too! And earrings...let's not forget those! My "Holliday" earrings are a staple piece I wear most often, but the hoop earrings are so much prettier in person and a go to if I want something a little dressier. Did I mention that I need to get my wedding ring resized so I asked Esla if she could size a "Gold Belt" ring for my ring finger? I LOVE it! Sorry Jeff, this might stay here for a long time. It's classic, simple and unique all rolled into a beautiful piece."
Jewelry is a creative outlet for me. Do you have a creative outlet or is your job your passion?
"My problem is I have too many things I like to do! But my first and lasting passion has always been to work with animals. Before having children I worked at the Safari Park in the Elephant Department as a Keeper and Trainer, and before that I worked in the Photo Safari department. Prior to hanging out with elephants, I worked at Project Wildlife and in biotech. My degree is in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology. In recent years my family and I have started a little farm where we have chickens, a mini pig, sheep, rabbits, dogs, cats, a turkey and most recently we adopted a mini cow. It's literally a zoo at our house! My next dream is to host farm camps, tours and birthday parties on our property to share our furry and feathered friends with the community. I love when people come to the farm and leave with a smile. Knowing the space we created brought joy and perhaps a new found love for animals always warms my heart."

Where does NGD jewelry accompany you? Activities? Special Occasions? Work? Exciting travel locales?
"All of the above. Lately I have been wearing both the "Alpine Loop" and "Gold Belt" on the daily along with my turquoise wrap, opal ombrè bracelet and lemon jade bracelet."
If you could step back in time to any decade or era, which would you choose? Why?
"There are so many fun eras! Modern medicine makes it hard to go back in time for me, but I think I would like to spend a bit of time in the Renaissance era to see all of the amazing architecture being created. The Gothic and Victorian era would be really cool too. It's fascinating to see buildings created when there were no heavy machinery to help. I just can't comprehend how it was all done. The clothing would be fun to wear too."
